Roots and conclusions

First this awesome picture that I've had as my background for months. I love getting dressed in the morning and then looking at myself in the mirror, gasping and quoting this picture. Lol, so dramatic.
I used to love going into the art galleries when I lived in Vegas and checking out the Andy Warhol and Lichtenstein pictures.

Today I went back to my country roots by wearing my old cowboy boots. I still channeled my inner granny by wearing the dark mustard cardigan though.
Dress: ModCloth; Cardi: Forever 21; Tights: Target: Boots: Sheplers
Maroon Velvet Bow: American Apparel
Mikey ordered some of my Christmas presents off ModCloth and the package came in the mail today (it was HUGE!!). He must have ordered a lot of money's worth of stuff 'cause they gave me four free gifts! This awesome compass/locket/clock necklace, a gold bow ring, an icicle-like statement necklace and some cute buttons. Mikey went ahead and just gave me these since they were technically from ModCloth, not him. :)
This has been a while coming now: I think I wanna delete my Facebook account. Maybe not "forever", but definitely for a while. I need an official break from it. I've been finding myself becoming more and more distant from it, where I used to be so obsessed! There are some things that irk me about it, undoubtedly. For instance, the fact that some friends post their entire lives on there and if I don't login some days (which has been happening more and more) then I miss out on knowing what's going on with them. I want to get back to that old fashioned way of actually keeping in touch with someone because you give a damn about them, not just sharing your business with 500 people and thinking they all genuinely care. I know not everyone on my friends list cares about everything going on with me, so that's honestly what I love about this blog. It's a personal little nook that attracts only the people that wish to 'be in the know'; and I've seen the people that actually take the time to come all the way over here from Facebook and read what I've been up to. Plus they usually text or call me and let me know they're reading along, if they're not technically "following" me. Hell, even if friends aren't leaving comments here, I know they're reading my posts when I see them reference stuff I've shared. Lol Another thing I am fed up with on Facebook is the overwhelming negativity that some people leave on each others statuses, most commonly over politics. That annoys the crap out of me! And that doesn't happen here. I love the positive environment of the blog world. There's no long winded drama. Everyone is encouraging and complimentary in nature (I'm sure I'll meet a jerk eventually, but hopefully not). I've met people that I might have never met, and they're more supportive than some of the friends I have! haha Crazy, right? Obviously not all my friends. I have some pretty amazing friends in real life. I'm just really fond of the upbeat folks I've had the pleasure of meeting through our shared passions for fashion in the blogosphere. Plus, everyone knows that you see who your true friends are once you get rid of Facebook. (Lol @ how much technology has owned our social skills.) My girlfriend Chappie said she got rid of her account for months for the same reason: to see who would keep in touch once she was no longer easily reached by the click of a mouse, and they actually had to voice-communicate. I still talked to her on the phone almost everyday when she was MIA. Our friendship wasn't hindered a bit. But that took the both of us, giving a shit. Y'all see what I'm saying? Anyway, I'll likely do that tonight after this post. We're about to have some friends over for beer pong! Mikey and I spent the entire afternoon cleaning and buying drinks. Which brings me to this great picture:

There was a moment today where I was scrubbing at the bottom of our bathroom sink, and I thought to myself, "What kind of women actually enjoy cleaning?!!" Are any of my friends & blog-friends any of those girls? If so, what is so enjoyable about it?? :)
I bought one of those retro tin signs for my kitchen that says, "I understand the concept of cooking and cleaning, just not as how it applies to me." I love it. Mikey just rolls his eyes...because he knows I honestly feel that way. Haha
I hope y'all had a great day!! Between having company tonight, having to turn in two stories to my Fiction Writing professor by tomorrow, and Pop Pop's 80th birthday on Sunday, this is going to be a BUSY weekend. I'm going to try my hardest to post once daily. Bear with me.

Bearhugs,
Roni

  1. Weren't you (pointing at you miss girl) one of the people giving me sh*t for deleting my account before?

I like cleaning, yes. Hello, my name is Monica Gellar Bing. lol I've always been uber-tidy & ocd about it. Can't help it.

  2. P.S.- It will be hard though, when I have random thoughts and videos, and songs that I will want to share with you, and I have nowhere to put them! :/

  3. Oh sorry, I forgot to mention, I love the boots and I LOVE the necklace! I have a timepiece necklace I put together that's my favorite. =) I don't think I can pull off bows, but there's one from your RVS that I'm considering.

  4. Girl, you don't even have to remind me! I remember giving you crap to come back because I missed you on Facebook! LOL I did that to Chappie when she went off it. But now I get why people need their space from there every now and then. I've just simply lost my interest for it in these last couple months. And honey, you can still share your music with me. Just paste it in a comment or message me the song. I still want to hear them.

  5. Thanks, baby doll. I wanna see you in some cowboy boots! I know you're not having the best time in Texas, but you should definitely take a little souvenir (like cowboy boots) with you when you head to Oregon. ;)
I wanna see your timepiece necklace! Post a picture. And link me the bow you're considering from RVS. I'm glad to have put someone onto them. It's a great little sisterly owned boutique. :)

  6. I definitely want some cowboy boots. And I will on the bow, and I will on the necklace, when I do my earrings post.

  9. Firstly, thanks so much for the follow, love! Next, I completely understand the feeling of conflict towards facebook! I get so frustrated with the negativity or lack of privacy from some people. Let me know how taking a break/leaving the social network goes for you, I'm certainly not brave enough to do it just yet! Also, love the clock necklace - adorable taste! xo

  10. Jen,
I LOVE that hair clip. I want that one in mint and whipped cream!

    Ash,
I know girl, but I'm not worried about losing touch with you. We been talking on the daily! :)

    Tori,
Of course. I enjoy your blog. I love that it's different from most I read. And yep, I'll let you know how the FB break goes; so far so good. I don't miss it at all. Haha The things I will miss are the baby pictures that friends put up of their kiddos and the motivational pictures that a few of my friends put up. Not all of my FB stream was negative, I was really just sort of over the site completely...well, for the time being. Plus it's usually a distraction when I'm in school. This will help next semester when I start classes without Facebook in my life. Lol And thanks! I think there's something so classic about clocks and lockets. The fact that this is a necklace that incorporates both + a compass-y lookin' feel makes it THAT much better. :)

  11. First off that pic is hilarious!! I love it, and its so you! Secondly I swear we're in sync I've been telling Domo that I was going to get rid of stuff on my Facebook and eventually people will have to reach me through my blog, videos, email, or phone. I hadn't seen too many of the things you have but Facebook has definitely upgraded to stalker status! I agree not all those people care and I have been tempted a couple times just to get rid of everyone except "my crew" lol.
I'm going to make the decision in Jan.

  12. I love cleaning. I just feel like if the house isn't clean I'm not I know that isn't the case at all but I'm crazy and just think that way lol. Also now that I have Chris you have to worry about him getting sick. I pop on some good music and that usually gets me going.

  13. LOL Morkie, stalker status is right!! But there's probably stalkers on our blogs too. haha I miss Dom, give her smooch for me. ;)
Oh, and you need to bring your happy, I-like-to-whistle-while-I-clean self over to mi casa!

  14. Lol I will once I see her! Omg one day I'll show up mop bucket and all!

  15. Haha! You are too much! And hey did you change the settings on your blog to review comments first now? I've left a few comments on your latest posts and I checked earlier and they weren't visible yet. Am I doing something wrong or have you still not approved them? And if it's the latter, did someone leave a mean comment on your page?? No one better have messed with my Morkie.

  16. @ Roni: I know exactly how you feel about the fb thing. Truthfully, I wasn't a phone person pre-fb and I still am not, LOL! I love fb for that reason. I can keep in touch with all of my fam and friends all over the country who I would not normally even get to talk to. I've been trying to get in touch with my west coast fam for the past couple of weeks but with the time difference and our busy schedules we just haven't connected. Anyway, I can do without all of the pessimism and negativity as well. I just told Chris the other day that I believe he likes to antagonize and push buttons (not only on fb but in real life). He isn't successful with me but I see how it happens all the time. Of course, that causes heated debates and animosity with him and other people. To each his own but I do not like that kind of interaction with folks. I like to leave people with a nice heartwarming feel (like how you feel after sipping hot cocoa with a candy cane in it). Okay, well, I think the rambling bug has hit me. Hope some of my point made its way into this comment. LOL!

  17. Khalilah,
Point MADE, girl! =) And I actually don't have a problem with Cj. His posts have me cracking up all the time, because he's so unpredictable! I love that. And he's pretty open minded I noticed over the years, so he's definitely not one of the people that causes unnecessary fights or anything. Don't worry though, I'll definitely be back I'm sure! For now, it's like I'm on a little vacay from Fb land.

And yes my name is Hanushka :)

  19. Hanushka,
Thanks, doll. I live in Paterson, New Jersey right now. It's not the nicest little city, but it's certainly borders some adorable towns, like Montclair and of course the magnificent, New York City. Where do you live?
