let's rewind 10 years: pt. 6

Other than working on my left [tattoo] sleeve, going to concerts every week, and drinking like a fish, the most significant 'thing' of 2007 was starting to form my 2nd Air Force family. It started with Steph, and in 2007 I added Natty, Chappie, Irena and a few great gents. My family in Vegas was much, much bigger than the one in Oklahoma and not everyone knew past "family members" since so many of my friends were getting out of the military or moving to new squadrons. Had all the friends that I called brothers and sisters hung out over the 4+ years I was there, I can only imagine all the fun we'd have had.
FYI: I met Mikey during the first month that I got to my squadron in Vegas. We both remember that first day, but have different ways of telling it. His is probably the truer version though. He says he walked into the squadron to sign out for his flight (we called them "missions"). I remember looking up and seeing him walk through the door because the sunlight was coming in right over his head and it was too much for me...I was hungover. I thought he was cute, but I didn't really pay him any mind. He says he said hello to me and that I didn't respond. I don't believe this to be true for a second, because that's just plain rude! Although my friend Steph will argue all day that I was an "asshole" back then, partially due to the fact that I was always hungover. So maybe he's telling the truth. Anyway, he says he asked me what he needed to do to be good to fly (I kept track of flying currencies and made sure that no aircrew flew if they had tasks to accomplish prior to flight). According to Mikey, I didn't even answer him. I simply glanced only at his name tag, spun around in my swivel chair, and highlighted his name and information. Then I went back to what I was doing, all without looking up or saying a word. He said "thank you" and went on with his bizz. The funny thing is we ended up hanging out often because of all our mutual friends, like Purdie and Pickett. I didn't even call him Mikey; I called him by his last name. One thing however, I always thought he was a cutie pie.
During this time I had a boyfriend whom I met at work. He was originally from California, so during our year of dating I got to visit Cali about 4 times. I went to San Francisco (twice--my favorite!), Sacramento, San Diego, Escalon (where he was from) and a few surrounding cities. I just can't believe I forgot to wear a flower in my hair while in San Fran. :(
Irena & I. This picture is not from my 23rd birthday, but I spent it with Irena @ the E.R. (the bar)
I almost forgot I used to have black hair!

When I referred to Mikey by his last name.
Stephen, Mikey, Purdie, me, Irena, Heather
Halloween '07. I went as myself.
L to R: Chappie, Me, Tiffany, Steph, Cassie
LOL and one from eeeaarrly '07 of Mikey & I being friends and stuff. :)
Ew, I hate this picture of me. I also don't like me with blond hair.
Hope you enjoyed another one. Goodnight, y'all.
Love,
Roni

  1. Aw you look so cooooool with black and pink hair! Your style has changed so much between then and now (or so it seems through photos!) I like all your studded belts!

    1. Thanks! I loved that little streak. It was totally "illegal" in the military but I covered it when wearing my hair in a bun. And yep, I told you I was a huge tom-boy dressing punk girl! I dress with the musical styles I like. Back then, I wasn't quite ready for dresses so I didn't dress the fun way I do today (more reminiscent of 50's & 60's eras), so I opted to dress for the other music or styles I was into: punk and rock n' roll. :)

    2. Oh and HAHA that was the same studded belt in like all the photos! I noticed that after I uploaded them. How embarrassing. My one belt. I did have hot pink, green, white and checkered, but clearly the black was my go-to. lol

  2. lol I like the one pic where you were texting and everyone else was posing for the camera! I really hate that I didn't go visit when you were in Vegas. =/ If you ever go back, I'm going with you.

    1. Yeah I was texting someone where the party was I think. It ended up looking pretty cool, I will agree with you. ;)
Girl, I know! You totally got my hopes up every year when you'd say you'd come and you never did. Not till after I left so you could get some booty!! >;) You could have done that while I was there and just gotten what you needed and come back to my casa. Duh!

Also, omg Stephen and Eulo look like children in that pic!! hahaha! I remember them coming into Rickenbackers and me always being like, who the heck are these dorks!! lol!! 1. San Fran was so much fun! I think you'd really love Pier 39 or something. It was this really cool boardwalk with food, games, little shops and restaurants. I remember picking up a couple James Dean pictures I had never seen before in one of the stores.
Haha they do look young...and skinny! Definitely dorky, too. :P hehe Was that really the first time we met? I thought we met at the Christmas party that year for some reason. Either way, I remember thinking you were super sweet. I was like, "what the heck is she doing with Stephen?!" LOL kidding!

  4. So jealous of your multiple trips out West to Cali. It's my homeland as I like to say and I want to go back SO badly. I was born in Anaheim and lived near LA for a short amount of time. I love it there so much.

    1. Oh really?! I had no idea you were originally from there. You live in Indiana still? (That's what it says on your profile page, but I'm not sure if it's still current.) My girlfriend Jen is originally from there, but hasn't lived there in some time. Do you like it? Or it just sinks in comparison to the fun California? :)

  5. Girl you've ran through the gamut of hair colors haven't you? LOL! I love that you're so adventurous in that way.

    1. I guess I have! I forgot that I did blond a couple times...and always hated the outcome. Guess I was trying to give'r a shot. I did black like 4 times, but it always left my hair feeling really dry, but it was always the majority favorite. Eh, I'm not too big on it for me. I do love me some red though. Crazy red and semi natural red. :)

    1. LOL! I love that he remembers that day so well. As if he's trying to hold it against me or something. Psssh. :)
I love playing with my hair. I haven't let my natural hair color grow out in about a decade. I've been playing with it since I was 18. Shynkeez! But I do remember that it was light brown, dark brown, red undertones, and gold tips. No joke, my natural hair color is intense highlights. LOL I loved it, I wish I had the patience to let it grow out again.

    1. LOL, asshole. You always say that, but I don't remember it for anything. You must've seriously wanted me to talk to you and made this up in your mind and you've convinced yourself beyond any doubt that it's the truth. :P

    2. um no. im pretty sure thats how it went. and its not like you remember a first encounter. sheesh. if not that, then we somehow magically became friends. lmao

    3. I remember first encounters, jerk. You came to the 15th alot (like in our old office) and poked your head in to say hi. I think I was just being friendly. Maybe I was nice-hungover that day, sheit.
