small talk

Dress: Nishe via ASOS// Granny cardigan: F21// Brogues: Endless// Hair bow: American Apparel
It was SO chilly when I headed to school one morning this week. The realization that fall is rapidly approaching kind of bummed me out. What was once my absolute favorite season is now regarded as the prelude to my winter blues. Don't get me wrong, I love layering, my impressive collection of tights, cozy cardigans, and any excuse to wear a cute printed scarf, but my relationship with fall went from "in a relationship" to "it's complicated" when we moved to the northeast. I still adore fall when it's here, yes, but I don't wish for it to come anymore because I feel like it's just gone in a blur, so happy to make way for the prolonged, butt-shivering winters that I loathe more than all the habitual red light runners and rear-ending tailgaters of New Jersey.
And on that sourpuss note, y'all have a great rest of your week! :) Oh, that vlog I wanted to post by Friday will likely come Saturday or Sunday now...I was having a ton of problems fidgeting and looking down as I responded to the questions, so it's going to require some editing. Why am I so awkward?!

  1. I love that dress! It's unber cute. As for the winter you guys have compared to ours seems intense, I don't think I could ever handle it, so good luck with that!
    Love you!

    1. Thanks, Sissy! And omg I don't think you'd wanna even try to handle it. It's pretty bad. Although last year's wasn't as bad as 2010's winter...I guess I just learned to deal with 30 degrees being "tolerable" since at least it wasn't 10* and snowing. lol

  2. I love your outfit, and your hair looks amazing. I'm determined to wear more bows in my hair this fall/winter. I too get the winter blues, but man do I enjoy Fall and can't wait to pull out my own hoard of tights here soon. Happy Thursday!

    1. Thanks, doll :) I pretty much always go for a bun and bangs if I'm not up for actually doing my hair. Throwing a bow in it just gives the appearance that I did try hehe
I do want to send an apology into the air for ol' Fall. I do love it, I just hate that up here it means that brutal winters follow. I prefer winter in the south and west coast...where it's not really winter by definition at all. haha

  3. OMG! Love those oxfords! I wish it would cool down here. It's still scorching hot outside! So over the hot weather.

    1. I can only imagine the weather in Florida. I know I'd be ready for it to cool down as well, but then again, y'all don't have winters like we do to *not* look forward to. :)
      Thanks for the comment, darlin'!

  6. This outfit is the best! I think it's my favourite one I've seen you in so far. I love the way your hair is and that massive bow is amazing, it looks super soft too. Plus that dress is adorable.

I hope that you have a good autumn and that it lingers for longer than you expect. :)

    1. Awww I will take that compliment :) Thank you, hun. The bow is suuuper soft velvet. I got this one and two others at American Apparel a couple years back. I'm sure they still have them. They're the best!
I hope it stays a while, too, and thank you for the good wishes. xo

    1. I do love the feeling in the air and the smell...Mikey and I enjoyed a really romantic night this weekend outdoors and Fall just made itself known and I was happy to greet it, even though I had just got done trash talking it here. ;) I just want it to replace winter. Is that too much to ask?!
Thanks for the comment, Vi ♥

  13. That dress!!! I hope it wins the stylish in a snapshot contest because it was my favorite look by far. Also - your hair! I wish I could manage doing my hair well. Anywho. I am not too keen on the cold weather either. I love fall but it popped up out of nowhere. I also don't like that it gets dark at 7. I am ready for bed by 8 and that is not ok.

Can't wait to see the vlog! I am going to try making mine this week. We will see how it goes. I think it is pretty darn hard to avoid being awkward in them so no worries!

    1. Aww I wish we could BOTH win! Wouldn't that be nice! :) Your dress is absolutely darling and you looked lovely wearing it. I seriously crossed my fingers for you, me, Rachel and any other of my/our bloggy friends to win.
I've been getting suuuper tired way early, too! Haha Granny alert. I do love the way fall smells and feels in the air, especially at night. I just wish it could replace winter entirely. Fall is just perfect. Winter is such a buzz kill. :)
That vlog was harder than I thought! I need to get around to editing and cutting some of the crap out (you know, the uh's and um's) so it's not half an hour long. lol I hate not getting something done by the deadline I gave myself! But there's just been no time.
I can't wait to see yours though! It'll hold me over till we meet in person one day. ♥
Thanks for the comment, pretty friend!

  14. First things first, that dress is adorable! Second, I'm so excited to be in Jersey for the fall (even though it's still warm out...at least to me) Vermont Fall lasts about a month and goes straight into winter and then were buried in snow for 6 months. I'm very happy to be out of that! And as you can see I have my computer up and running again! Yay!

    Xo,

    1. Good to hear from you Eeka! And I'm so glad y'all are doing great here. Vermont sounds like a nightmare! haha but that was precisely the way our winter went down here in 2010. They said it was the worst winter Jersey had since 1996. We had one snow storm after the other. It was ugly out. I hope this winter is much like last year's.
Anywho, I hope y'all are settling in well and making friends with your neighbors! :)

  17. Oh my gosh you perfectly described the way I feel about fall now that I live in the northeast where the winters never end!!!! I used to love fall, like LOVE fall (when I was in kindergarten we made this lists of our favorites and my favorite season was fall (fyi my favorite day was Thursday and I liked the color mint green)) yeah that was a parenthesis inside a parenthesis, bad ass I know. Anywoo I still love fall but I also hate it cause that means winter is coming and I am not down with that. I think we should just move to Tennessee where the winters are short and the drinking at 3pm is not frowned upon.

    1. Yup! I knew you'd understand. It was my favorite favorite, too but fuuuck it doesn't last long enough here. Fall is amazing in Texas and Oklahoma and Vegas...pretty much anywhere *NOT* north.
LMAO @ "favorite day was Thursday" - so random! hehe You are the most bad ass person I've ever known, next to myself of course. We can be tied for bad ass though, really.
I looove TN. We should totally "hang our hats" there like George says! :)
