Monday, why must you ruin everything?

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty darn peachy.
Friday night: work was a breeze and the bands were all pretty solid. Mikey even came to hang out; it was fun flirting with him across the bar.
Saturday: I spent the entire day hanging out with my girlfriend, Hope. I hadn't seen her in months due to our busy schedules, so it was such a wonderful treat to be in her company doing things we love. We visited three antique shops in Montclair, a thrift shop, ate lunch at Chili's, strolled around Kohl's and went debit card crazy in Target. We have another girls date planned for this coming Thursday: we're going to Lambert Castle right up the road from where I live. We'll scope out the inside and picnic outside on the pretty terrace that overlooks the city. I'm sure there'll be lots of pictures.
Dress: F21/Shoes: ModCloth/Coat: Banana Republic/Bag: French Conn.
At one antique store I picked up an autographed picture of former Yankee player Yogi Berra for $45. Mikey is a huge baseball fan and an even bigger Yankee fan (so that makes me one, too). I knew he'd love to have this in his collection of signed baseballs. He was uber happy to say the least. For myself, I found something I wasn't even looking for: a porcelain doll. It's a little boy wearing very 1920s or 40s style clothing, but the gentleman that owned the store said this particular doll was only about 20 years old, so he's not as antique as he looks. I fell in love with his adorable face and vintage style, so $5 was easy to hand over for all his charm. I asked Hope what kinda name he'd have. She looked at him for about 2 seconds and said, "He's a Snyder." I thought she'd say Scottie or Billie, but Snyder was so random and bad ass, really. Snyder he shall be. As for Hope, she picked up a 1974 Sesame Street Album, called "Let a Frown Be Your Umbrella", for her hunnie at only 2 buckaroos.
I decided to try Chili's Tropical Sunrise Margarita for lunch. I'm pretty sure they forgot to add the tequilla though. It was yummy if you're looking to drink juice.
Sunday: I babysat two of the girls from upstairs. We ran to the grocery store to pick up ingredients to bake a cake...so pretty much a box of Betty Crocker Funfetti, frosting and eggs. I introduced the girls to one of my favorite childhood songs, "If You Wanna Be Happy For the Rest of Your Life", while in the car and they both deemed it the song they always want to hear when we're together now. We played the song on repeat again in the kitchen as we all danced while cracking eggs, beating batter and frosting the cake. They sang the lyrics for the rest of the night. It was just too cute and just like the scene from one of my all time favorite movies, Mermaids. :)) When their parents and other two sisters came home, we migrated upstairs and all sang Happy Birthday to the oldest daughter, Idelia, who turned 11 today.
That was my happy shmappy weekend.
I hope y'alls weekend was just as delightful.

Love,
Roni

    1. That's exactly how it was with Hope and I! I love getting in a girls day between the daily grind of school and other things. It's really nice. And thanks, I think Snyder is such an unusual name for a doll as well. :)

    1. LOL I haven't packed alcohol in my bag since I was 21. Oh, the good ol' days. :)
Sissy, you, Mikey and Jaxon think he's "creeptastic"! Jaxon started growling and barking at him, going completely berserk when I introduced him to Snyder. You know Momma, she was like, "Oh, Roni, get rid of that doll!" haha
And yesss, I totally thought of you and just back home in general when we all danced to the song. I always think of you when I hear certain oldies songs because of how much we danced as kids. We were dancing machines! Why didn't we enter contests?! We so would have won every time.
      I love you, sissy.

    1. Hooray for the Yankees! That sounds like a great idea, only..do they have games in the summer? I thought it was a spring-ish time sport? I mean, the few games I've been to have all been in April. Hmmm, either way, double dating would be the bomb. Let's do it!

  4. That's too cute, about the kids. I love it when the girls & I have moments like that.

And, I guess you are one of "those" kinds of ladies, cause you aren't into sports. I am, so whenever I get a bf or husband, I won't be changing my favorites or liking a team just because he does. My teams are my teams & will stay that way. =) Love yah.

    1. Girl you know I've never been into sports. BUT I do support ANY Texas team and any New York/Jersey team. Vegas didn't have any teams, but as much as I loved my city I'm sure I would have supported anything they had. Actually they might have had a hockey team, but I've never been to a single hockey game in my life. So yeah, I don't enjoy sports typically, but I have a decent time going to local games of places I enjoy living. And I'll support the Yankees all day because they really are thee best! I remember going to watch baseball games in OKC..but those were lame. Lol
And yeah, I know you're a die hard Colts fan. You're like a dude when it comes to sports! I mean that lovingly. I've just never been one of "those" girls. ;)

    1. Well, the only thing with thrifts and antiques is they don't have any JC's. HAHA!! But you'll enjoy it. It's fun to sift through junk and perhaps find a treasure.
Girl, I was listening to ooold school Usher on the way home from school today...we need to go out dancing, that's what I think! :)
