jelly fishin'

With summer unofficially here, I'd been hankering for a pair of jelly sandals (like the ones most of us wore when we were cool kids). Well, last week, when I purchased my vintage dresses, I also found/purchased a pair of jellies that surpassed what I was looking to find!
I got this skirt on sale for $6 in the kids section at Target. It's a kids large but fits like an adult small. Either way, it was a win for me since I like bows and pin stripes. Sorry you can't see them.
Shirt: UO (mega old)//Skirt: Target// MelShoes via Endless
Awkward twisting of my right foot, just so you can see the wedge. I'm such a trooper.
These bubble-gum beauties are Mel Shoes, the "recently launched diffusion line of Melissa, [Shoes]" and they come in five attractive colors on one of my favorite shoe sites, Endless. Mikey loved them so much in pink that he told me to order the black ones, too! I am also jonesin' for the nude colored ones that look a little pale pink on the site. If y'all are looking for an all day comfy (I've already tested this to be true), jelly sandal that adds just the right amount of height at 3.5 inches in the wedge, then this shoe is for you! Not only is it the ideal summer sandal, but it's justifiably safe for rainy days, too, i.e. you won't ruin your pretty shoes aka every girls worst nightmare! You just wipe off any excess water or spots with a cloth or your fingers (like me) and you're good to go! I already had to test this out, too.

I'll do my best to blog as much as I can while in Big Tex. Some of y'all might remember my mom's tortoise-slow internet service ;)

Have a wonderful day, friends!

  1. Those are seriously the most amazing jellies I've ever seen, ever... Such a GREAT find!!!!! & I love what you have on! Yay for that skirt!!! I would have never thought to do that (although there's no way I'm fitting in kids' sizes... my butt just won't allow it, lol). Loving the sweet bow detail on those sandals, hun! What an incredible purchase! xo, Megs

    1. I may be eating too much Mexican food - I've already gained some pounds and I've only been here five days!

  9. I love jelly shoes! I used to have quite a collection when I was a child but I find them really difficult to find now. Your skirt is very pretty too!

In response to your question, I've not tried the pale eyeshadow yet, but I might use it for blending others :) xx

    1. Is pale eyeshadow a faux pas? See, this just shows how little I know about makeup. I didn't know you'd use it for blending, but that makes so much sense. haha

  10. Those are such cute sandals. From what I remember of jellies is my best friend bi$&%&%ing and moaning about her Mom only buying these when she wanted some other leather sandals... so I gave them a bad rep just cuz of that... but these pics might change my mind.
No I didnt get your previous comment but thanks for reiterating. OMG! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all those movies. I could sit through Dirty Dancing any time of day and you know, being from Transylvania, I am such a vampire lore lover that Lost Boys is one of my faves. (too bad about how the Corey's future panned out). How wild is that scene with the kid vampire jumping out of the mattress growling? Nanook is my fave though! Girl, when are you planning a trip to L.A. so we can talk about all this over a cup of coffee??? Would totally love!
PS. I am in general not a cat person but I fell in love with Danzig!

    Enjoy your weekend.

    1. I love when Laddie jumps out of the mattress! It's so wild and magical. haha I purchased a little military style cropped blazer that closely resembles the one he wore in the film. Check it out:

I don't know when I'll make it out to L.A. Probably when we finally make it back to Vegas. I would love to talk about our fave movies over a glass of wine. I'm sorry, I'm one of "those people" who don't drink coffee. But we can totally drink a beer or wine or a martini :)

  11. Those jelly sandals are absolutely amazing girl! I definitely need to look these up, they are so ideal for the Rainy City! And super cute to boot :) Love this entire look of course - the bicycle t-shirt is adorable & I totally love finding items in the kids section as well! Pretty much guarantees you won't run into anyone else wearing it (at least not your age ;)

  12. Those shoes are so so cute, I think it's the heel that does me in. We actually have a pair of real pink jellies from the 90s at my job, which I would buy if they were my size.

  13. Those shoes are just too darn cute. I love the bows!! I wasn't allowed to wear jellies when I was little *sad face* my mom thought they were gross because your feet couldn't breathe so I was banned from them. These look fantastic though :] And so pretty for rainy days.

Looks like you have been having fun in Texas from IG. My moms house has the slowest internet too. I feel ya!

  14. Thanks everyone for the sweet/funny/lovely/thoughtful comments!! I know I usually comment back on every one, but seeing as how I'm limited to internet services currently, it'd be a bit difficult and take too long to do so. :(

  15. Those shoes are so friggin cute, but I am even more jealous of that tiny little skirt and how you can fit into it so well. I remember when I was a teenager and I would get stuff off the kids rack in Large. It was a nice feeling. I can still do that with children's shoes though. My feet are so tiny. I can wear a woman's size 5 so children's large sizes fit me too!

    1. LOL! Funny you mention the kids sizes in shoes:
I was at Marshall's recently and found the cutest ballet flats but they were kids sizes...I found the biggest kid size they had and it fit me!! Wee!!
