Accidentally took these pictures before I put on my red lipstick. Forgive the drabness of my face.
I've been wearing quite a bit of red and brown lately; I love the new-to-me combo!

Dress: ModCloth//50's Vintage Glasses: Speakeasy Vintage, Montclair, NJ//Lace socks: American Apparel//Oxfords: Endless
I've been chatting a lot with my friend Bob, the owner of Clash Bar, where I bartend. We've been chatting about my longtime dream of having a sock hop party. A couple of dude friends from Clash know of old doo-wop bands that we could get to play the night if we end up setting this thing up. It'd be so magical to have a band play all my favorite 50's & 60's songs, but I'd be just as happy with a DJ and everyone in attendance dressing up in their "American Graffiti"-esque best. I'll let y'all know if it happens. I hope it does, as I've been talking of going to/having a sock hop since I was about four years old. Of course there'd be a million totally bitchin' pictures.
I hope y'all are having a lovely week <3
P.s. Post title comes from this doo-wop song.
P.p.s. I get to see my family in Texas on Thursday!!
Cute ,love your Style!

Thanks, Minja! The glasses are one of my favorite purchases to date. I can't believe someone wore these over 60 years ago. Have a wonderful week(end)!
DeleteOh my God, please invite me to this! I already know what I would wear and I just happen to be a great dancer...and by great I mean really terrible but whatever
ReplyDeleteAmber, seriously, you are like required to come if this happens! We're hoping around August sometime, that way we have plenty of time to set it up.
DeleteHaha I'm a terrific dancer if we're going by those terms. lol
Roni - I think you were born 35 years too late! You look like you stepped right out of a yearbook pic from the 50's - so adorable. Love your style girl -- and enjoy your time with the fam. xxoo Lyn
ReplyDeleteI think you're right, Lyn. That's what I've been saying since my birth. haha I practically came out the womb in a poodle skirt. :)
DeleteThank you ♥
You have the BEST DRESSES. I am going to steal them okay thank you. I will come to your partay, it sounds like it would be friggin AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteCome to the US so I can steal you! :D That would be a dream all its own if you came here!
DeleteYou seriously have perfect style and this dress is awesome! I wish I could pull off red as well as you do. You look good in ANYTHING!
ReplyDeleteAww thanks, Violet! I think you could pull off red, though you look sooo lovely in pretty pastels. :)
DeleteThis outfit is crazy adorable!! I love the vintage vibe! So fun & so gorgeous! & yay for Jersey bloggers... even though we're not Jersey lol. & I've never been to MyHabit, but I'll definitely have to check it out. Pretty stuff for half the price? I'm there! Thanks for the tip hun! & I'm really, really, really in love with your shoes... They're just too sweet! xo, Megs
ReplyDeleteprincess.hippie.love.
LOL! I love being "not Jersey" haha
DeleteNo problem, and I'm so happy to have met another Jersey blogger! :)
Very old school dude.
ReplyDeleteI have a hat to send you. I think it will work in your wardrobe much better than mine. I need you to email me your address. Plus, I don't get good reception at my house, so if you call or text, I won't answer.
A hat?! Oooh, cool! :) I love hats. You know I hate doing my hair. Wore a hat today, too.
DeleteDamnit, no wonder you never text right back anymore. I hate your Indiana service. Grr.
lol Email me your address!
DeleteAnd yeah. I'll get a new phone someday.
you look extra cutsies!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, sissy poop!
DeleteI hope that you'll be able to do it!!

Me, too!! *Fingers crossed* Brogues are the best shoes ever - they go with everything and don't take up too much space when you pack them for trips! :)
Deleteyou are way adorable. love the socks!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks :D
Deleteawww sweetheart look! :}
ReplyDeleteYou look so adorable! I love the oxfords! I've been watching The Next Food Network star on Sundaynights and there's a contestant who reminds me of the blonde version of you! She's got a quirky style I love! Very retro! I think you would like her style too! I wish I was going hometown Texas in June so we could meet up but ticket prices are ridiculous. I'm going to try and make it down in July or August.
ReplyDeleteWha?? I need to google or watch this show you speak of! This blond better not be the cliche "dumb", if you know what I mean. haha I know I can be a bit ditzy but I take offense to dumb. LOL, I'm sure you don't mean that at all. I'm just teasin'. I need to google her like, right after I leave this comment though. She sounds like a cool chick ;)
DeleteYeah, we bought our tickets with plenty of time and they were still pretty high. Ugh. Oh well, there's always next time! Thanks for the sweet and thoughtful comment, love. ♥
Just saw her (her name's Emily). She's sooo cute and stylish. Her voice is pretty funny and chatterbox-y as well. yes, I could see this reminding someone of me. Plus she has similar glasses :)

DeleteTHAT is THE cutest dress ever!.. and it looks so great on you!
ReplyDeleteI think that you NEED to have this party! It's a life long dream that needs to be fulfilled... A while back, way back, I attended a 50's & 60's party (complete with Elvis impersonator & professional dancers) and I LOVED it (eerily, I felt so at home).
Thanks for visiting me and I am SOO happy to be friends! Wish you the best in your visit with family Thursday!
Happy Wednesday!

Thanks, Dana! And I agree, it needs to happen, like, 10 years ago. I was gonna ask if anyone has been to a sock hop or 50's/60's esque party! How awesome that you've been to one!!!!! I'm so jealous! Not eery at all. I think that'd be like the main time in my life I felt like I was home; oh, I wish people could time travel. Anywho, thanks for the sweet comment!
DeleteLovely dress...is so amazing! I like your style!

Deleteawww cute shoes and glasses!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Allie!
DeleteI love Montclair! I actually got the cutest dress from the UO there MDW! & The Petite Paris Cafe there has such yummy macarons! I'd love to set something up! I have a few job interviews for the next week or so, but once things quiet down we could totally strut the streets & check out the cute boutiques there :) fun! xo, Megs
ReplyDeleteprincess.hippie.love.
I figured you'd at least heard of it. It's one of the cutest towns in Jersey, I think. And not gonna lie, I just had to google "MDW." I feel a tad bit more cool now that I know what it stands for and can use it myself in the future now. :) And the UO in Montclair is the best! It's never packed and it's huge! We can totally set something up for around July if that's cool. I'm going to be out of Jersey for a while.
DeleteA sock hop would be so much fun! This outfit is perfect for one. I love those glasses and the oxfords :] Hope you hare having a great time with your family in Texas!!
