Beetlejuice meets Kate Spade

So back in June I fell in love with this beyond beautiful Kate Spade bag. Just about all her stuff is feminine perfection, but it's pricey and I just don't spend more than $80 on a bag. And that's because I only have about three bags that I've paid that much for; all the rest are either given to me by my mom, thrifted (so, under $5) or just really inexpensive. But I fell hard for this one because it reminded me of one of my favorite childhood movies: Beetlejuice. (The bag handles remind me of the staircase scene. Who knows what I'm talking about?) Plus, it's one of the few KS bags that's not strictly sophisticated and...mature. I love how this one is classy and quirky because of those black & white stripes. I could literally dress this bag up or down.

I just love the box shape, that pretty bow, the polka dot interior lining, and that Beetlejuice feel! Ugh, it's the perfect bag for me!

I honestly didn't think I was going to get it, but I was relentless in my begging, and I've never been on better behavior in my life! Mikey had just finished working on a project that took up anywhere from 12 to 14 hours of his day for about a month and was paid a nice chunk of change, so I knew we had the funds to splurge a bit. (Notice how I said "we" - a perk of marriage: his money = my money.) Jump to the end of the story where he falls in love with the bag, too (after seeing it everyday for a month), and decides that if it makes me happy then I should have it. Gosh, he is a smart one, that boy. He even got me the exclusive phone case I wanted. And yes, I've been wearing the shit out of this bag. You'll see it in many, many pictures from here on out.

^Beetlejuice stache and no makeup. I just love it. Thank you to Mikey for spending your hard earned cash on a shetbag like me.
And thank Y'ALL for reading the post of a spoiled ass brat. ;) Have a terrific Tuesday, pretty birds!

Go Shorty!

Thanks for all the Happy Birthday messages, comments, texts, phone calls, hey tells....amazingly photoshopped pictures of us together since we've unfortunately never met in person (ahem, Kirsten - haha I love it)!! This birthday and the days leading up to it....y'all have just made me feel so loved. :) Thank you! And that goes for my friends that don't get on blogger, if you ever see this.
Turning 28 means wearing a lot of red....and feeling ultra fab.
Mikey got me some red Swedish Hasbeens for my birthday.
And here are some sweet treats from some super thoughtful friends. I love surprises! Thank y'all very much.
Morrissey shirt (that I've worn every night) - thank you, Flowers!
Mustard beanie + lovey dovey dress - thank you, Khalilah
Freaks And Geeks - thank you, Chris!
Wine glass that holds 3 bottles of wine (OMG) - thank you, Stephie! I promise to only have one glass. ;)
Thank you again, Chryssi for your gifts, too!

And in case you wanted to see some baby Roni pics...
Left = baby Roni
Middle = my 1st birthday. my fave pic of me & my mommy
Right = mischievous Roni. I got caught knocking stuff down.

My friends upstairs just threw me an Ariel birthday party! I got to wear an Ariel crown while a room full of smiles sang "Happy Birthday" to me. :) I'll definitely be posting pictures of all my birthday festivities on Sunday-ish. We're headed out to eat now and then we'll be drinking at Clash Bar with friends.
If you haven't seen this hilarious infomercial for a gigantic wine glass (the inside joke to why Steph bought me the big wine glass for my bday) then you must see it. I've seen it like 50 times and it still gives me tummy pains from LOL'ing so hard. The one Steph got me holds 3 bottles of wine! Score!

Happy Birthday to me! Wooo!

Love,
Roni

"What my baby wants, my baby gets" - I love it when he says that

My husband surprised me with some shoes today! Not just any shoes. Shoes that I've been obsessing over for weeks. They are the Jeffrey Campbell dog tapestry mary janes that ModCloth has adorably named the "Woofing It Heel". There are lots of different tapestry prints in JC shoes right now, but my faves are the kitty and dog ones. I really, really wanted these particular shoes in the kitty print, but ModCloth was only offering them in the dog print, and hey, I have two crazy pups of my own, so of course I'll take these! I just don't want my favorite little fat cat to be jealous. Danzig, you know you're my whole heart.
This is my 6th pair of Jeffrey Campbell's and I just love the new box these came in! His shoe boxes, like all his shoes, are so unique.

Look at all those puppies! Lassie and friends.
feels like walking in flats, honest to God!
So, after I screamed and pranced around the apartment in my new heels, I sat on Mikey's lap (mall-Santa style) and asked him why he bought me the shoes. He said, "Well, because you just wouldn't shut up about them; I knew you really wanted them." Awww. So what did I learn here? Baby will continue to get what Baby wants as long as the trap keeps yappin' away when something pretty is for sale.

Umm...check out our dog Jaxon. He's got contortionist tendencies. Although, this isn't even one of his awkward resting positions.
Before I go, my friend Ashley not only has an awesome collection of JC heels, but she owns the cat tapestry damsel shoes, and they're super cool! Which by the way, if you're a fellow shoe addict like me, I'd recommend staying on top of Ashley's blog, as she posts shoe reviews, and lets us know of all the neat, new shoes out there almost every day, where to buy them and she shares discount codes if she finds them! I personally go to her blog (daily) to get my shoe fix and see if there's anything I should take advantage of, because she always knows where the sales are.
Oh! I owe y'all a tour of my new closet. I tried doing a video tour of it last night, so as not to flood your internets with a bazillion pictures, but I kept sounding like a moron and re-filming, therefore making myself sicker than a dog when I played the clips back...I get bad motion sickness. I'll probably have Mikey record me tomorrow and have a post for y'all Sunday/Monday-ish.
Have a great Saturday night, lovelies!

My birthday came early!

One of the sweetest ladies in the world, my dear friend Chryssi, called me tonight to let me know she had mailed me an early birthday present and she ordered me to open it as soon as it arrived. Y'all know I don't like opening Christmas gifts early and my birthday is no different; however, this was an order, and she was kind enough to send me something in the first place so of course I'm going to do as she wishes. ;) Mikey just so happened to check the mail really late tonight, since we forgot to check it earlier, and my gift from Chryssi was in the stack! This is what my old roomie sent me:
The super sweet note that wrapped one of the gifts...
"Never forget where you came from. A Texas girl at heart.
It's one of my favorite things about you!"
And this is what was inside. :))))

This was the best ending to an already delightful Thursday. Thank you so much, Chryssi! You're my favorite crafty gal - always have been. Remember when you helped me make decorations for my squadron Christmas party in 2009? :) That was so much fun. I miss living with you. I miss your monkey bread. I miss Skyping each other when we were only a [bath]room apart! Ha! I miss our coloring book parties in our living room: Wizard of Oz on the tv, a crayon in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. We were so cool! Like little kids who can legally drink. :) Thank you for being so thoughtful. It's only one of my favorite things about YOU. <3
Friends, be sure to check out Chryssi's shop on Etsy. I'm sure you'll find something you like!
Welp, I better do my homework now that it's midnight.
Goodnight, dolls.

Love,
Roni

Cry-Baby Walker

Paying homage to one of my fave movies of all time, Cry-Baby
[found here]
I can't believe it (my holiday breakdown) didn't happen sooner with all the running around, Christmas shopping for everyone online and hoping it arrives before we leave Jersey, finals and other stresses that develop. Well, today we managed to finish the last of the Christmas shopping...at the mall. I promised myself I wouldn't go to the mall during the month of December, but we had to. There were a couple things we needed to buy, and unfortunately they wouldn't arrive in the mail until after we were already in Texas. And we didn't want to get raped with the ridiculous charges online to have items sent in two business days, so we sucked it up and headed to Willowbrook Mall, which to our surprise wasn't a nightmare at all. The frustrating part came when we were going back and forth on what we thought certain people would like, not knowing sizes, etc. I was in a sour puss mood the entire time. It was just so mind boggling to Mikey that I could be so miserable amidst all that delicious retail, but I just wasn't feeling it. I've been so stressed out lately and I feel like the amount of rest I get is never enough, yada yada yada; ladies, you know this story.
So we get home and the UPS guy has a delivery for us. I was expecting one of the gifts that I ordered for Mikey, but this big box was addressed to him, and he figured it was something he ordered for me. He goes to his office and opens it up to find it was the baseball display case that I bought for his vintage signed baseballs he's been collecting since he was a kid. He's had them stored away in a backpack as long as I've known him, and I know he wants nothing more than to display them proudly, so I thought it'd be a great gift. He felt really bad when he saw it and I just started crying because this is the third of his Christmas gifts that won't be a surprise at all. I know this seems really petty to cry over, but it was just my breaking point. I love the surprise of the gift giving at Christmas time, and unfortunately he didn't give me much to work with as far as his wishlist this year. I got him exactly what he wanted and so he likes to jokingly tease me that he already knows - that pisses me off! I did get him other things that he has no clue about, but this baseball wall mount was a big one that I was eager to see his face light up with next week...I just felt like Christmas would suck for him and it made me feel crappy, but he doesn't think like that. He felt horrible and begged me to let him give me one of my Christmas gifts tonight. I didn't want to. In my family we got to open one gift at grandpa's on Christmas eve and the rest with our family on Christmas day. That's it. So I like doing it like that, but Mikey has always been one to start begging for us to open them like weeks before! Wtf is up with that? Lol After him pleading for me to open a gift that way he could see me smile, I finally agreed with a sigh...his idea worked. I smiled and wiped those tears away. Breakdown be gone!

It's so funny the littlest things that can send me into tears after I've been going a mile a minute for weeks or months. I really needed that cry; I feel so much better. But that might just be the Chanel talking... :)

Love,
Roni
