cat eyes

These outfit photos are actually from last Friday! Shame on me, I know, but I haven't felt much like taking outfit photos this week. It's not because of all the rain - we all know I love that. Actually, even on the most torrential of downpours this Tuesday, I was dolled up in a floral dress and high heels. I couldn't help but laugh at my persistence to be "fashionable at all times" as I delicately dodged puddles in my Seychelles.
I think I'm going to do a remix post showing the many ways I've styled this simple white dress. All I've done really is add bowties to it, changed up the tights, belt and shoes. Voila! Feels like a new dress every time.

Tonight is our friend Isaac's birthday; tomorrow some of our best friends fly in, and my old friend from the military and his wife are in town right now! I hope we get to see all of them! Also, I've been such a bad Mexican throughout the years...I never celebrate Cinco De Mayo, just like I never celebrate St. Patty's Day. I don't know why I don't embrace these holidays that basically excuse you to get as boozy as you want. I guess I prefer to down a bottle of wine in the heat of a good moment, not because it's on a calendar giving the impression that I should - I really don't like being told what to do. However, with the excitement of having all these friends in town mixed with my stress levels for finals next week, me thinks I might just cave and start sipping margaritas at breakfast tomorrow.

P.s. How many of you had no idea I was Mexican and this whole time thought I was Asian? Lol, Don't worry, it's the story of my life. Over the last decade I've grown to love having an ambiguous face. I've been mistaken for every ethnicity in the book and it's become sort of like a fun trivia game that I play with strangers that approach me at the mall, grocery store, school, work, drive-thru windows...
Happy [early] Cinco De Mayo!
Love,
Roni <--roll your R when you say it today :)

  1. Those tights are so fun paired with the dress and I love the shades :] Have fun with all your friends and dance the weekend away! I don't know if I have ever really celebrated Cinco De Mayo but I woke up craving Mexican food and then Pinterest got me on a roll. I hope you get some Mexican food tonight - I think I need to go pick some up as well and sip on my Rumchata (soooo good).

Haha. I could see how people could mistake you for looking Asian. I have a friend that has the same problem and she loves messing with people.

I can't roll my r's *sighhh. I try and try and just drool. Ha, ew.

    1. LOL!! I'll keep that in mind for if we ever meet - do not ask Allison to attempt an R roll. haha!
I actually didn't dance as much at the club. I danced in my seat and in place and then once again with an older lady :) I was DD that night so I wanted to make sure that everyone was okay once they started "feeling" their drinks.
I've never had a Rumchata by the way! I'll have to google it and maybe attempt to make it next time I'm bartending.
And yeah, I really have a lot of fun with people when they're guessing. I've also gotten Romanian. I was like, "Where the heck did that come from?!" Lol

    1. Thank you so much, Lyn! I take the cosmopolitan look as a huge compliment, since, because of my ambiguous features and the fact that I've lived in several different places, I consider myself a citizen of the Earth and I can make just about anywhere my home.
Thank you again. You are one of my favorite people ever. I seriously light up when I hear from you. :)

  5. lol I know. You're the whitest Mexican I know! lol I think I may be more Mexican than you, and I'm only half! haha

I celebrate St. Patty's Day & get drunk not because it's "implied" to drink, but because it's fun as hell! lol

    1. You're only more Mexican by color, but we both know I am way more Mexican in every other aspect. The food (although I don't cook any of it and that makes me a very bad Mexican, lol). The culture. The language. I'm pretty sure you're like a few of my Mexican friends who don't even know Spanish. Unless I'm incorrect? ;)

    2. I can cook it & my family is from Texas, too. Yes, I can't speak it, but that isn't my fault. That's the little old MEXICAN lady's fault! haha

    3. hahaha so true! My mom didn't even wanna teach us Spanish. I had to learn by taking like 6 years of it in school!

  9. I think I remember you writing about being Mexican...that or I am imagining this. But it's funny that people do that! A good friend of mine is a teensy bit Native American but is constantly asked if she's Mexican. ;) Love your shades by the way. xo

    1. No, I did write a little something, but didn't like go on about it. Good memory! Awww you really read my blog. Hehe! One of my best guy friends is white, but he always gets asked if he's Mexican, even when I'm around and someone has just asked if I'm from Vietnam. :)
      Thanks, Tori ♥

  11. I don't even want to talk about how amazing those sunglasses are, I can't. And on the ethnicity thing, I definitely thought you were mixed. With what, I didn't know. Are both your parents Mexican?

Yup, both the 'rents are/were Mexican. It's crazy how I just turned out a bit Asian-ish. I get it from my momma.
