Red Tails date

Mikey and I, being Air Force veterans, knew about the history of the Tuskegee Airmen and were really interested in seeing a movie based on them. Last night we finally ventured out to the theater and saw Red Tails. We enjoyed it, but there were definitely many cheesy and awkwardly delivered lines/dialogue. But I think this movie was made to be like those old cheesy war movies, so I won't be too critical. On the other hand, like a reviewer of the movie said, I just wish that they would have done more of a justice to what these guys really went through and accomplished. Even though the movie was long, it didn't quite do that as well as it could have. Mikey thinks they should have made it a tv series where they could really expand on the Tuskegee Airmen's story. I agree. But again, we did very much enjoy the movie and I did have some tears goin' on at the end. I'm such a baby.
I had to take my new shoes out for a spin and let me tell you, we walked around for about two hours and they never gave me the sense that I was walking on 4 inches. Flats, I tell you! They feel like flats.
You can't blame a girl for trying to strike a sexy pose, ha!
Blouse, pants, vest: Ruche
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell via ModCloth (thanks baby!)

When we got home from the movie Mikey showed me pictures of the real Tuskegee Airmen, that I never knew he had! Apparently they visited the base he was deployed to in Iraq. My husband's squadron there was actually also called the 332d squadron, and they were the Tuskegee Airmen, too, named of course in the original group's honor. Mikey didn't get to meet them, unfortunately. They were in Iraq just before he got there for his deployment. But there were a buttload of pictures of the T.A. visiting with the Air Force airmen and checking out the predator planes on the computer's share drive. Here's one of the Tuskegee Airmen standing in front of Mikey's squadron sign. How cool is this?!
Welp, we're going out for wings and a beer.
I hope y'all have had a relaxing weekend. I know I have. I'm just not stoked about returning to school tomorrow. I'm still in winter break mode. :)

Love,
Roni

    1. I mean, like I said, it was good, just cheesy in three specific dialogues. But I was happy to support the budget intake of the film, since apparently it wasn't going to be shot in the first place. The one dude from Rise of the Planet of the Apes was in it and he was great. I liked him the best. Oh, and Ne-Yo actually was really funny.
But thank you for the sweet words, girl! ♥

    1. Red Tails came out about two weeks ago here. I'm not sure if y'all get wind of new releases before or after us.
Thank you, that blouse is one of my top favorites ever because of the ruffle detail and high neck.
Definitely google the Tuskegee Airmen. They are worth schooling yourself on them!

  7. This outfit is adorable. I am liking the blouse/vest combo and those pants are prettyyyyy awesome! I think I need to try a pair of Jeffrey Campbell's, I have only heard good reviews. What is cooler than a pair of heels with dogs on them!?! Anywho, I am so out of the loop with what movies have come out but I will have to look into the Red Tails / Tuskegee Airmen history. Thanks for sharing!

  8. I feel like that happens with a lot movies where they try to incorporate too much into a 2 and a half hour window which leads to the whole thing falling flat. A tv series would have made more sense. So you have heels that feel like flats....I dont believe you :)

  9. That is awesome! So exciting that he was so close to them, kinda. I agree about the story. But I can definitely see why we got the watered down version...it's going to take a while before our society really opens up to the real story being told. I mean, they are trying to have slavery stricken from text books. This is the society in which they're trying to release this story in.

Anyway, on to this absolutely adorable outfit. Ummm, first those shoes are HAUTE!!! I want a close up pic of the print! Second of all...girl, let me find out you got some badonk back there! You wearing those pants, chile! Love it!

    1. I honestly don't understand why our society won't open up about their story. They have a museum with some awesome facts about them and the first women pilots in the service near the OKC airport. I remember I went in one time and saw it, that's where I first heard of the T.A. Then again, I believe in the Vegas airport they have a little somethin' somethin' in a glass casing about them. I just feel like, it should be common knowledge to know about them. I mean, c'mon, they saved lives during a war!!! I read one guy talking about how forever grateful he is to the Tuskegee Airmen because they saved his grandfather's life. For that of which he might never have been born. I just don't get why anyone could think this is worth not sharing. And I didn't know they were trying to have slavery stricken from the text books. What's their reasoning? It's "old news" and they need to make new books with "new news"??? If that were the [silly] reason then hell, make BIGGER, THICKER books and make all these little school nerds learn even MORE. This is all history, and how sheltered, in a way, would kids nowadays be if they didn't know such wonderful things like this?! Ugh, clearly I could go on. :)
Thanks for the saweeeeeeeeeeet compliments!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA @ your bodonk comment. Dude, I ran that thing OFF over the last three years, BUT since I haven't run in about 6 months, it's peeking it's little head back. But I'm telling you, three years ago, I was like "Bam" back there. Nope, not anymore. But thanks for acknowledging my little booty. hahahahah I lurve you!

  10. Oh, yeah...I think that they should have done the story like Band of Brothers.
