Wayne's World! Party time! Excellent!

Hey friends, 
Guess what? I just finished up my last two finals today - "school's out for summa"! I don't like to jinx myself, but I think I did really well. *fingers crossed* Let's hope I can maintain my "honors program" track record.
Here's a look back at the last couple weekends and all the fun I've had:
These two pics are from a night I bartended at Clash two weekends ago. A group of rappers, R&B singers, hip hop artists, and rock bands put on a 10ish act/set hosted by a nice fellow named Lemar; together the entertainers make up what's called "The Collective". I've worked a few of their shows at Clash and it's always a fun time!

Last Friday night:

Our good friend Isaac turned 29! We celebrated at a club called Studio Four. I DD'd. I was required to pull off on the side of the highway three times on the way home. Isaac obviously had a great time.

Friendly Visits: Couples edition

Remember how I said I'd wake up on Cinco de Mayo and have a margarita for breakfast, or something daring like that? Well, I didn't. In fact, I slept in really, really late and then met my old Air Force buddy, Luna, and his beyond amazing wife Lindsay at a pub in New York! It was so lovely to catch up with them (over margaritas). Lindsay greeted me with the most aggressively wonderful bear hug I've ever had. :) I love when my friends marry women that I fall in love with, too.

Our good friends Kiser & Kenyon were also in town, scoping out potential wedding venues.  I got to see them Monday night when we all had dinner at Kiser's parents' house; afterward Kiser and Kenyon came back home with us and spent the night before flying out Tuesday morning.

All in all, it's been a busy but enjoyable last couple weekends. I'm just glad I don't have to juggle homework amidst the fun for the next couple months! Weee! 

Summer plans include: 3 weeks in Texas with mi familia (Nathan's turning 1!!!), road trips to New York and Virginia to see some bffs, and perhaps a road trip to Connecticut to see one of my favorite blogger buddies, Amber? :)

Monday, why must you ruin everything?

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty darn peachy.
Friday night: work was a breeze and the bands were all pretty solid. Mikey even came to hang out; it was fun flirting with him across the bar.
Saturday: I spent the entire day hanging out with my girlfriend, Hope. I hadn't seen her in months due to our busy schedules, so it was such a wonderful treat to be in her company doing things we love. We visited three antique shops in Montclair, a thrift shop, ate lunch at Chili's, strolled around Kohl's and went debit card crazy in Target. We have another girls date planned for this coming Thursday: we're going to Lambert Castle right up the road from where I live. We'll scope out the inside and picnic outside on the pretty terrace that overlooks the city. I'm sure there'll be lots of pictures.

At one antique store I picked up an autographed picture of former Yankee player Yogi Berra for $45. Mikey is a huge baseball fan and an even bigger Yankee fan (so that makes me one, too). I knew he'd love to have this in his collection of signed baseballs. He was uber happy to say the least. For myself, I found something I wasn't even looking for: a porcelain doll. It's a little boy wearing very 1920s or 40s style clothing, but the gentleman that owned the store said this particular doll was only about 20 years old, so he's not as antique as he looks. I fell in love with his adorable face and vintage style, so $5 was easy to hand over for all his charm. I asked Hope what kinda name he'd have. She looked at him for about 2 seconds and said, "He's a Snyder." I thought she'd say Scottie or Billie, but Snyder was so random and bad ass, really. Snyder he shall be. As for Hope, she picked up a 1974 Sesame Street Album, called "Let a Frown Be Your Umbrella", for her hunnie at only 2 buckaroos. 

I decided to try Chili's Tropical Sunrise Margarita for lunch. I'm pretty sure they forgot to add the tequilla though. It was yummy if you're looking to drink juice. 

Sunday: I babysat two of the girls from upstairs. We ran to the grocery store to pick up ingredients to bake a cake...so pretty much a box of Betty Crocker Funfetti, frosting and eggs. I introduced the girls to one of my favorite childhood songs, "If You Wanna Be Happy For the Rest of Your Life", while in the car and they both deemed it the song they always want to hear when we're together now. We played the song on repeat again in the kitchen as we all danced while cracking eggs, beating batter and frosting the cake. They sang the lyrics for the rest of the night. It was just too cute and just like the scene from one of my all time favorite movies, Mermaids. :)) When their parents and other two sisters came home, we migrated upstairs and all sang Happy Birthday to the oldest daughter, Idelia, who turned 11 today. 

That was my happy shmappy weekend. 

I hope y'alls weekend was just as delightful.

Friday night highlights

So I know I told y'all that I do not believe in opening Christmas gifts early, but long story short, Mikey used some political wizard magic and somehow got me to agree to opening our gifts on Friday evening before we went out to my father-in-law's Christmas party. It won't ever happen again. Ever.

One of my gifts was a brand new camera, to include a tripod so I can take my own outfit pics, lol. He also got me these Jeffrey Campbell black-glitter/wine-suede wedges that were on my ModCloth wishlist forever. I am so in love with them!

Weekend Highlights

My weekend in pictures - I'll try not to drag this on...but I think I've warned you that I'm a rambler.
Friday:
I woke up to Danzig sleeping on my back. I tried my hardest to take a backwards/over-my-head picture, since I never get to capture our cuddly moments. This is what I got.

I had a solo dance party tonight. My playlist had Erykah Badu, Patsy Cline, Nancy Sinatra, The Killers, Camera Obscura, George Strait, The Smiths, Neil Young, David Bowie and even an old Sean Paul song. Yeah, I'm what you call "one of those eclectic folks". Here I am...busting a move. 

And here I am typing these words...

I had a pretty solid weekend, and I got a ton of work done. I didn't waste a single minute. I love when I can say that. 

Before I go, if you really love me you'll listen to this cover of "I love how you love me" by Camera Obscura. Tell me it doesn't make your heart melt?! Her voice is amazing, and I love how it has that old time quality that I'm so crazy about. Plus, this was the song that happened to play as I ended this post. :)
