Wrightsville Beach (and giveaway winner!)

[School starts tomorrow! *yipes*]
For someone who used to despise summer (pasty people usually hate the sun), I definitely embraced the heat this year, and scored my first tan in the process! (It's nothing major, but it's a huge deal for me and all my RL friends have taken notice.) Here are some pictures from our recent trip to Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina that will make us all wish for sand in our cracks, salt water choking us half to death, obligatory jumping photos, funnel cakes, and me to stop wearing this red one piece bathing suit.
The night I stepped in a grisly pothole because I was too focused on scarfing down this baby
That one day I wore a bikini for the first time in two years *gasp*

Last day in town was spent playing in the water for 8 hours...and chugging drinks in between.

There's still time to get your beach fixes in if you haven't this summer!
And now for the winner of my first little giveaway.......drum roll........sweet little Miss Jazz of Jasmine Jewel's A Gemini!! Congrats, Jazz. I'll email you right away. Thanks to all who entered; I hope we're still friends ;)
Have a lovely week, dolls! xo

Coney Island

Here's to my first post on my new layout!!! A bajillion thank yous and hugs to one of my blog besties, Miss Allison of ShyScout!! You're wonderfully talented and so incredibly sweet to match.
Now, on to a couple weekends ago when I took my first trip to the historical Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. I love super old places, especially when they've got that almost-creepy-circus-y feel to them. I went with my upstairs neighbor slash long enough time friend now that I shouldn't have to keep referring to her as my neighbor, Lissi. It was a spur of the moment trip sparked by my boredom with daytime television. Spontaneity is my middle name. Lissi happened to have free tickets for the New York Aquarium, which is conveniently located on the C.I. boardwalk so we got to park for free, too!!!! My enthusiasm is warranted. Anyone who's ever visited New York knows how much money you can lose in a day, just on parking.

beach babes :)
I love this picture of Lissi. I would've let her get one of me but I don't trust anyone holding my cell phone while in the ocean but me
Souvenir tees. I forgot to take my size label sticker off, oops
It was one of the best girls day trips I've had in a while. We sunbathed for hours, played in the water, ate tons of deep fried food (yes, I had my fourth funnel cake for the summer!), and rode a ride that could give you brain damage (my dumb idea...again). I hope y'all are making the most of these last days of summer as well!
P.S. Like cute things and free shit? You should enter my giveaway then :)
P.P.S. Sorry if my landscape pics are a bit blurry on your screens; I'm currently playing around with HTML codes (so out of my comf-zone, but I want to learn) in order to get my landscape & portrait pictures to match in width. I'll get it!

The Jersey Shore

[Flashback: A post from when my cousin Mercedes was visiting town.]

I had never been to the infamous Seaside Heights until we went in July. My expectations did not align with reality...which made for a great day trip! There were no mobs of guidos or guidettes and the boardwalk wasn't as grimy as I had pictured in my head. Maybe the freaks come out at night, and we left before 7 p.m. Then again, people that don't know me probably think I'm a freak, what with my zombie tattoo and all.
I never have the dumb idea to ride roller coasters, but by the end of the day I had grown a pair and convinced us all to ride that one on the pier. I thought it looked like no big deal. I was so mad at myself when the ride was over.
Finally, here's what I took home from the shore:
We were using expired sunblock. I had no idea sunblock expires. Noted.
I hope y'all enjoyed all the pictures! Happy Friday! <3
