glitter makes my smile shiiine!

Y'all may remember the early birthday gifts my friend Chryssi sent me that included this darling glitter peter pan collar. I hadn't had the chance to wear it yet, but Chryssi asked if I could 'model' some pictures of it for her Etsy site. So yesterday I grabbed a solid colored dress, so as not to take away from the collar with a busy pattern, and my glitter oxford heels for a match made in whimsy heaven. I ended up really happy with the way this look turned out. Simple, but oh-so sparkly and fun, which in turn makes me the happiest camper ever.
Dress: F21
Glitter peter pan collar: Chryssi-Lou Etsy shop
Glitter heels: ModCloth (old)
Belt: gift from my Mommy

Pick up a glitter collar for yourself (only $8.50)! Made with love by one of the nicest girls on planet Earth. <--Seriously.

Happy Birthday to any leap year babies! I could not imagine only really celebrating my birthday every 4 years...on the other hand, I'd be able to get away with saying I'm much younger than I really am. Hmm. Nah, still not worth it. I could always just lie about my age.

Goodnight, friends!

Love,
Roni

Taking the tags off

I finally wore a dress I've had since Thanksgiving.
I really love this dress. (Apparently every other blogger and their momma does, too.) It's really easy to wear and so thick and comfy. I just wish I could have gotten better pictures, but we're still using my phone! Baahh!  >:/  And I'm still doing the same poses. ;)
Nothing makes me happier than a twirly, girly dress.
Dress, cardigan: ModCloth
Tights: We Love Colors
Hat: Urban Outfitters
Flats: from my wedding day
Owl necklace: gift from Mikey

I wear tights just about every day and I wish I could do something about the way dresses get all bunched up between your legs when you wear them. Ugh, so annoying...and sort of embarrassing. Stop it tights, stop drawing attention to my private parts.
One of my best friends in the world, Stephanie, just emailed me from her deployed location and let me know that she'll be stopping by to spend a week with me...next Tuesday!! It stinks that I'll have to go to school while she's in town, but I'm going to make every minute count. I LOVE seeing my best friends. As I've said before, I don't get to see them as often as I'd like since we're all scattered about the country. I'm looking forward to seeing a face I've known for years.
Before I go, I just wanted to give a BIG Happy Birthday shout out to my fashionista in crime (who has recently slacked off on her blog - but she's forgiven), Mrs. Khalilah Jones!!! I'm so happy to call her my friend. She is such an amazing woman and the definition of a good person. I love you, girl and may this year bring you a basket full of blessings.
Y'all have a wonderful Tuesday night. I'm gonna eat some Fruity Pebbles cereal and do some h.w. The latter being the obvious lame part of my night.

Love,
Roni

A Stylish Surprise from ModCloth!

Hey friends,
I hope y'all had a relaxing weekend. I didn't do a thing but watch Freaks and Geeks and it was a perfect weekend for me. (I had some wine with it actually.)
Remember that awesome wine glass (that holds 3 bottles of wine) my friend Steph bought me for my birthday? I put it to use on Saturday. I think I'd die if I attempted to drink 3 bottles of wine, but alas here I hold in it a single bottle of Belgian beer that simply looks and tastes like wine. It's one of my favorite drinks ever. Yum yum yum.

Moving on...
I wanted to quickly share this cool "Stylish Surprise" deal from ModCloth!
find out more here
As some of you know, I stalk MC at least ten times a day (at the least) to see what's new and I just logged on and saw this. I live for surprises so I was all in. You pick your size, pay a low price of $15, and get a surprise garment in the mail! How fun! At $15, what's to lose?! No matter what, you get more than what you paid for. I can't wait to see what ModCloth has randomly selected for me in a few days. I'll definitely let y'all know. Wee!

Other than that, I've got nothing...other than homework, so I'd better go.
I hope Monday was a great start to your week!

Love,
Roni

P.s. Let me know if any of you do the Stylish Surprise thing! I'll be eager to see what you get as well. :)

after midnight wishlist: shoez

I have been drooling over these gorgeous, new Poetic Licence heels. I have never wanted the same shoe in every color/pattern so bad! (Well, yes I have, but anyway.)
Color: Blush Available: ModCloth & Endless

Color: Pink & Orange plaid Available: Endless
Color: Brown plaid Available: Endless
I seriously need all three of those ^ in my closet STAT! It's times like these where I wouldn't mind having a sugar daddy. Unfortunately that would be frowned upon for a married woman. Plus, how do you ask someone to be your sugar daddy? Honestly, I don't think I really know what a sugar daddy is. I hope it's not the same thing as a pimp. I just thought it was a guy, maybe older?, who gives you money for being a cute sweetie. (Someone please let me know if I've got that right. I'm really curious now.)
These pretty babies have been on my Ruche wishlist for a few weeks, which feels way too long to still not have them in my shopping cart. I really want to wear them on Easter!....and every day after. Chelsea Crew is pretty inexpensive and makes a really comfy shoe.
Available: Ruche (if you buy them, please leave me a size 7, thanks)
These gorgeous blue & orange tweed Mary Janes beg to be purchased at a low-low price of only $39! I can't believe they've sat on my wishlist at Lulu's for so long. Sadly, the orange is sold out of my size; in fact, there's only a size 10 left. We need to get our school checks, like yesterday.
Available: Lulu's (orange here, blue here)
Also collecting dust on my Lulu's wishlist are these cute little, stripe-y slingbacks from Rocket Dog. I just love the bow on the toe area. I'm such a sucker for bows on my shoes...and clothes...and headbands.
Available: Lulu's
Keeping on with the dust atop actually reasonably priced shoes, we have these Seychelles in an amazing shade of teal. Oh, why can't I be one of those luck fracks who win the mega millions?
Available: Endless (cheaper) & Seychelles
I literally just went to the Seychelles website and saw their newly added heels....
This charming doll just made my list. I really need these. That color. Swoon.
Color: Seafoam Available: Seychelles
And of course, the latest collection of Swedish Hasbeens is so gosh darn perfect (to include the bags)! I've been stalking those daily since they updated their site. I won't bother posting all those pictures. Suffice to say, I want it all. P.s. They're having a winter sale right now (50% off winter style shoes), so if you've been wanting a pair of Hasbeens, now might be your chance!

*le sigh* "If I was a rich girl..."
Goodnight & sweet dreams! <3

P.s. Story of my life: If you haven't seen this old video, you need to see it. I always think of it when I'm shoe-stalking. It's the ultimate shoe video. "Stupid boy." <--Yes, click there for the video.

rainy day woman

For most people, when it rains they go about the day in a very blah mood. I'm usually the total opposite, considering rainy days are my favorite. (I might have mentioned that a time or twenty here.) But today, I didn't posses that normal rainy day glow. I am exhausted as a motherfudger and ready for an afternoon nap with my Danzig.
Since I just wore a sweater and jeans today, I didn't feel much like taking outfit photos. Just this one.
Hi :)
On the other hand, I didn't post my Wednesday outfit, so....
worn here w/different tights & shoes
I had just woken up, so you can see I still had my sleepy eyes. :) My hair was also still wet from my morning shower and hadn't puffed up yet....."so fresh and so clean, clean."
Dress: Ruche
Tights: ModCloth

And just because they make me happier than cake and ice cream...

Girls Day Thursday

I don't have school on Thursdays, and I thought about how nice it would be to spend it with a girlfriend (or girlfriends) when and if they are also off - instead of me just doing diddly squat at home all day. So if I get lucky to score some girl time every Thursday from here on out, then I'll be doing more posts like this. :)

Today I spent the day with my girlfriend Ashley from Pursuing Daydreams. Oh, and her super duper adorable 3 year old daughter, Madison, tagged along as well.
Left: First we started with Denny's. All that food for 2.5 girls!!
Right: My amazing shopper eyes spotted a gorgeous gray wool coat at UO for $10. It was originally $149 and they had Ashley's size! Of course she got it. :)
Ashley looking super cute in red. Those shoes of hers (NightEnvi by Jeffrey Campbell) were show-stoppers. A girl even asked to take a picture of her feet.
Outfit: Dress, belt: Ruche; Tights: H&M; Jeffrey Campbell Rizzo heel via Strut of NY
dress worn before here; shoes worn here (to get a clearer pic).
I love this girl! Such a great friend and soul.
We had a great time pigging out, shopping and chit-chatting all day! And we spent our 8 hour walking and hanging sesh in 5 & 7 inch heels! I've said it too many times, but I'll say it again: Jeffrey Campbell shoes are so comfortable. We were on our feet all day and never felt the urge to throw our shoes off and start rubbing our tootsies. I highly recommend at least one of his fun, quirky pairs for the girl that doesn't mind standing out in a crowd. :)

Hope y'all had a lovely Thursday! I am pooped! Goodnight, dolls.

Roni

My closet tour! (finally)

...About a month and a half later than I was supposed to give you this post, but hey, I got lazy.
Originally I planned to just post a shi-ton of pictures that I took when the closet was done, but then I was like, "Whoa, that'd be picture overload!"And I'm not trying to slow down your internetz. So alas, we taped you a little vid.
Keep in mind, this is a small bedroom in our apartment that we turned into a closet for me, since the rest of the closets in each room are unquestionably inadequate in size. You'll see where I use the so called "closet" inside this room to hold only my blouses and skirts. That's all that fits on the pole!
After I saw this video, I nearly fainted at how terrible I look. This was filmed at night after one of my school days that starts at 8:30 a.m. but I'd gotten up at 6 a.m. and only slept for 2 hours the night before. Please be kind.
As usual, if you wanna see it bigger, just click on the youtube link at the bottom right. I only say this b/c clicking on the full size option here doesn't work when I do it.
Here are the four racks that used to take up so much space in this tiny room. I put them in the kitchen while Mikey & Isaac "did work".
They're so sweet for doing this!
Mikey & I only paid for the 8ft poles! Isaac had all the extra shelves lying around.
Seriously, who could make do with this sorry excuse for a closet?
The lighting isn't too good in the video when showing the additional shoe shelves in the little closet.
And I know y'all can see all the heels on the bookshelf pretty well in the vid, but these wedges are some of my favorite shoes ever. (They're Poetic Licence in case anyone is wondering, and they're still up for sale on their site + Amazon, I believe.) This heel is super amazing on a sunny day. The sunlight goes through the wedge and rainbows up the sidewalk!! I can't wait to start wearing these like crazy again.
Well, everything else is pretty obvious in the video, so I'll cool it on the pictures. I hope y'all enjoyed!

Love,
Roni

Bejeweled

Today was deceptively sunny. Either way, I dressed for the wanna-be warmish weather and continued to run with cheery clothes.
I wore this mustard cardi for the 1st time here.
Apparently I enjoy wearing it atop white/creamy, lacy pieces.
Mikey made fun of me after we snapped these, because I do "the same poses". I was like, "Dang, I'm not a model. I'll do the same thing every day if I want and I dare you to say something again."
No, I really just don't know what to do when taking outfit photos. Like, what do I do with my hands, my head...what is a good pose? Ugh. It's really awkward no matter how much fun I 'try' and have to lighten the situation.
Then, the wind came out of nowhere, giving me a few almost-Marilyn Monroe moments. That certainly lightened up the mood.
My shoes make me think of the game Bejeweled, with all the little rhine stone-y things that make a heart on the toe and line up the back of the tiny wedge. Plus I love the colorful gems stones on my whale necklace that Mikey got me for my birthday last year. (I love whimsical animal prints in and on everything, so I knew I had to have this cute little Moby for a necklace!) And of course the jewel tones in the pom pom puffs on my cardi are a nice touch...And there we have the name for this post!
Dress, belt: Ruche
Cardigan: ModCloth
Shoes: Poetic Licence (2010)
Ribbed tights: Target
Whale of a good time necklace: Jared

Today on my way home I reminisced through some fun, old tunes. I listened to "You Don't Have To Call" by Usher and remembered how it tied into a part of my teenage life back in 2001/2002. I followed that up with a repeat (times 10) of "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" by David Alan Coe...oh boy, do I have so many fun drunk (both) memories associated with this song. Me, Jen and our Oklahoma City gang would sing this song (at the top of our lungs) in a little hole in the wall bar that we frequented. In fact, this song would come on and the entire bar would sing it, usually holding onto shoulders and swaying back n' forth. Ah, good times. I like when people can come together like that and be friendly. Drunk or not. :)

Guess I'll go eat some cake now. Y'all have a sweeeet evening. <3

hearts + floral

I sort of just grabbed two things I wanted to wear today and then decided that they worked well enough to leave on. Let's face it, even if they didn't match I'd probably still have walked out the door. If I feel good in something, don't judge me for wearing it.
top, tights: F21
skirt: ModCloth (super old)

And here's my outtie without the tights. I would have worn it this way, but it was a bit chilly out today. C'mon Spring. Fight harder for me!
don't you just love a skirt or dress with pockets?
I had a lovely drive home from school today. I'll tell you, there's something about listening to Bob Dylan's harmonica while passing wintered trees just as the sun is calling it a day that make for a special moment....I live for those, and thankfully I have so many personal ones like it, often, in my car. Thank God for good music.
Y'all have a lovely evening. I'm gonna go put my hair in a bun so I can annoy more people who hate the messy bun look. ;)

Roni

Monday, why must you ruin everything?

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty darn peachy.
Friday night: work was a breeze and the bands were all pretty solid. Mikey even came to hang out; it was fun flirting with him across the bar.
Saturday: I spent the entire day hanging out with my girlfriend, Hope. I hadn't seen her in months due to our busy schedules, so it was such a wonderful treat to be in her company doing things we love. We visited three antique shops in Montclair, a thrift shop, ate lunch at Chili's, strolled around Kohl's and went debit card crazy in Target. We have another girls date planned for this coming Thursday: we're going to Lambert Castle right up the road from where I live. We'll scope out the inside and picnic outside on the pretty terrace that overlooks the city. I'm sure there'll be lots of pictures.
Dress: F21/Shoes: ModCloth/Coat: Banana Republic/Bag: French Conn.
At one antique store I picked up an autographed picture of former Yankee player Yogi Berra for $45. Mikey is a huge baseball fan and an even bigger Yankee fan (so that makes me one, too). I knew he'd love to have this in his collection of signed baseballs. He was uber happy to say the least. For myself, I found something I wasn't even looking for: a porcelain doll. It's a little boy wearing very 1920s or 40s style clothing, but the gentleman that owned the store said this particular doll was only about 20 years old, so he's not as antique as he looks. I fell in love with his adorable face and vintage style, so $5 was easy to hand over for all his charm. I asked Hope what kinda name he'd have. She looked at him for about 2 seconds and said, "He's a Snyder." I thought she'd say Scottie or Billie, but Snyder was so random and bad ass, really. Snyder he shall be. As for Hope, she picked up a 1974 Sesame Street Album, called "Let a Frown Be Your Umbrella", for her hunnie at only 2 buckaroos.
I decided to try Chili's Tropical Sunrise Margarita for lunch. I'm pretty sure they forgot to add the tequilla though. It was yummy if you're looking to drink juice.
Sunday: I babysat two of the girls from upstairs. We ran to the grocery store to pick up ingredients to bake a cake...so pretty much a box of Betty Crocker Funfetti, frosting and eggs. I introduced the girls to one of my favorite childhood songs, "If You Wanna Be Happy For the Rest of Your Life", while in the car and they both deemed it the song they always want to hear when we're together now. We played the song on repeat again in the kitchen as we all danced while cracking eggs, beating batter and frosting the cake. They sang the lyrics for the rest of the night. It was just too cute and just like the scene from one of my all time favorite movies, Mermaids. :)) When their parents and other two sisters came home, we migrated upstairs and all sang Happy Birthday to the oldest daughter, Idelia, who turned 11 today.
That was my happy shmappy weekend.
I hope y'alls weekend was just as delightful.

Love,
Roni

Diana Ross hair day

I made it through the week!!

Rarely do I rock what I proudly call my Diana Ross hair (the Supremes were one of my favorite groups as a kid). I have naturally curly hair, and I've always believed in this rule when styling it: the bigger, the better. Of course that doesn't go for all hair styles...like the Snooki poof. But curly hair, beehives, 80's themed party hair, yes - get it as big as possible.
Mine wasn't as big as I know I could get it (it's bigger than these pictures let on), but it was satisfiable Diana hair nonetheless.
I bought this blouse last summer. Today I noticed it still had tags on it. So here is this little darling's debut. "Nice to meet y'all", she says.
Blouse: F21
Cardi: Target
Jeans: American Eagle
Heels: Seychelles via ModCloth
60's handbag via Speakeasy Vintage (Montclair, NJ)

How many of your moms used Aqua Net hairspray back in the day??? Y'all probably said, "Oh my gawd" or LOL'd. I'm probably gonna start using it again, because that shet held your hair in place for days. And I'm sure it'll give me the true D.R. hair I desire. Oh, and it's $2. Yup, I'm bringing it back.

Mikey and I are headed out for sushi before I work at Clash tonight so I'm cuttin' this short.
Cheers to a fabulous weekend, dolls.

Love,
Roni

Picture from our sushi date. I just had to come back and update my post. Look at how cute my sweetie looks in his new shirt I bought him (from ModCloth). They have great shirts for your guy, ladies.
